We all here are certainly game players.  But who among us has tried to create something of their own?

I've posted this in the All Platform section because I have no idea how hardcore some of you are.

I started creating a Mission Impossible clone that involved hacking into mainframes and some run'n'gun play.

I did it on the C128.  However, in true brotherly form, one of my brothers deleted it "by accident".

It was pretty awesome.  It spanned disks it was so huge.

I've been involved in producing lots of Flash games. Does that count, or do you mean getting our fingers dirty and actually coding stuff?

If that's the case, I have made one game which must remain secret to protect the innocent. Note: The innocent does not refer to me.

As much as I have ideas about the grandest of grand space sim games, the most in-depth game creation I've done is a) pixel-by-pixel colour-coding a .BMP map file for a MUD that never got off the ground; and b) trigger-based single-player StarCraft maps.

No shunning here buddy.  Some friends and I created a MUSH with the weirdest concept.  Each of us would be in charge of an area and would have characters that we liked.

It was called "Midworld" (Based on the Stephen King Gunslinger series).

We had the following areas:
  • Common
    North Pole
    Kansas
A place resembling parts of Last Man Standing
    A land of Puzzles
    A few other places I don't remember.

It was all kinds of awesome.  We did some great things with that MUSH.  One of the guys created a constantly shifting maze.  So that every step you took reconfigured the maze somehow.  I programmed a white water rafting mini-game that involved typing commands at certain times to avoid taking a spill.

It was pretty cool.

My friend Dave (from Ottawa) was the shit disturber of the group, implanting the most unlikely items in unlikely places.  My character was Superman, and I had created the Fortress of Solitude (a fairly complete version, I might add).  I remember climbing into the Kryptonian suit of armor I had in the main hall, only to discover that the Terminator had parked his Harley Davidson Fat Boy in there...
