So this think looks pretty damn awesome. It's amazing that in the early rumour days the scans floating around were of poor quality and made it look like it could be a cheap knock-off. But now that we have official images, it's looking a lot nicer.

Any of you planning on picking on up? What about people who already have a PlayStation 3? Do you guys feel the need to upgrade? The fact that it uses less power and is quieter makes it seem pretty cool.

It's pretty sweet.  Does it really use that much less power though?

The fact that it's 120GB is pretty awesome, but no more 3rd party OS support.  Not so fun for the uber-nerds.

I don't think I'll be picking it up.  Seeing as I just got mine and all.

It's a handsome looking machine but I'm pretty happy with my PS3.

In my entire history of console gaming I've never picked up the 'slim' version of an existing piece of hardware that I already owned. Dating all the way back to Nintendo and their skinny remake, all the way up to the PS2 slim.  Just never felt the need when I already had the system.

I will definitely get the new PS3 - In the future! Interesting to note is that Sony has made it a point to state that they're not calling it the "slim" - so freaking don't call it that!

I've held off buying a PS3 because I figured the system would eventually shed some pounds. And dollars off the price tag. The redesign looks nice... not that it matters once the thing is hidden away on a shelf under the tv though. I plan to pick one up soon with the first Uncharted and probably Planet Earth on Blue-ray. Finally test out this HD brewhaha that my tv supposedly does :)

Brewhaha sounds like a nice name for a coffee shop.

Guys... you've just given me a brainsplosion! Why can't it be both? Brewhaha Coffee Porter. Give Mill St. a run for their money.

I dunno.  A store that only serves one kind of beer might not work out.

I mean, look what happened to Guinness!

Wait...

So I went out today and got my mitts on one of these new PS3 Slim thingamajiggers. Also grabbed an HDMI cable and Uncharted to really test this bad boy out! This was only my second time using a PS3 and first time actually installing one. Not exactly as simple as I had hoped. First impressions:

"Hmm... this thing isn't really slim" as I gave it the once over. It's just a bit smaller than a cable box and my last bit of open shelf space wouldn't do. In the end I had to set it on top of the old PS2 there. The older generation piggybacks the new!

So I popped in the HDMI cable and hooked that up first. Achtung! Not that way Chucko! Apparently you've gotta start with the AV cables and then it recognizes if you have HDMI hooked up. Only in my case it wouldn't. I spent the better part of an hour researching online and fooling with settings on TV and PS3. In the end I don't even know how I got it to work! Something clicked and the PS3 finally saw the HDMI cable and allowed me to switch to full 1080. As tempted as I was to throw a game on, first I had to check something out. Popped in a burnt disc and surprisingly found I could watch it. I know that's probably a minor thing but I was pleased. All I've ever had for watching movies was my PS2 and I did not want to buy a second DVD player in addition to the PS3.

Then I threw on Uncharted and have been playing that all afternoon. So far I am pleased with this system and the final price wasn't that hard to swallow.

I don't have anything that requires HDMI yet.

One day.

When my house stops breaking.

And I don't need to see the chiropractor anymore.

Maybe that day I will get a TV worthy of my PS3.
