Alright, folks.  A lot of good looking stuff coming out in the next month or two.
Which one(s) are you most looking forward to?

I've got a number, including Angels & Demons, The Brothers Bloom, Dead Snow, Funny People, Night at the Museum, and Up, but I'd say Terminator: Salvation probably tops the list.

Considering I tend to not go to the movies, this Summer seems more appealing to me than previous ones. Definitely going to see Terminator Salvation. And I actually DO want to see GI Joe and Transformers but I'll wait till they're in the cheaper theatres.

I'm interested in The Brothers Bloom because that directors previous film Brick is a favourite of mine. Funny People also looks like a great ride. This summer i'll definitely be doing matinée showings though to save cash and aggravation! I think i'll end up watching District 9 when it's out, instead of Terminator or Transformers.

Anything else looking good?

for all the blockbusternesss of this summer I can't say there's too much I'm looking forwards to. Transformers looks great but as a movie I thought the first one was pretty darn bad and I don't expect much better for the 2nd. My nephews however .. well let's just say I'll be in the opening night group. Terminator was a complete story that I feel was unnecessarily revitalized so while I admit it looks the best of the summer blockbusters I'll probably pass.

Up. looks like my only choice this summer. I keep expecting to get worn out of watching Pixar movies but after Wall-E I'm good to go on 2-3 more. To be fair since i don't have TV and I've been lazy to catch up on Previews I'm only peripherally aware of what's coming out. I just saw the Spirit in stores and I didn't realize it came out in theatres already.

I still haven't seen the Watchmen flick. I basically just hate going to the movies because it's such a big ordeal (or I just make it out to be one). It's also entirely possible that I'm just a grump.

I really didn't like that first Transformers movie but I still feel compelled to see this second one. Maybe there won't be so much of this "human interest" stuff forced into it, you know? Maybe we'll actually get to see more TRANSFORMERS?! Who knows.

Hold up... Transformers, in a Transformers movie?! Hahahahaha that's delightful! :P Actually I found the first movie bearable when I saw it on DVD and could fast-forward the squishy, meat-bag drama. I'll wait and do the same for the second.

Depending on when you go see a new release it can definitely be an ordeal. My rule of thumb is to give it two weeks, then hype should have died down enough to find a relatively empty theatre. Worked for Cloverfield and Iron Man. Then I saw Tropic Thunder on a friday night, packed room, almost ruined it. Watchmen I caught on a Sunday afternoon... empty.

Well Shaun I saw the Watchmen movie knowing nothing about it and I've been frothing to read it ever since! I thought it was a really great movie... as far as it's clarity with the graphic novel I can't say, but I know as a standalone it was amazing. And not difficult to follow at all which I heard was a major complaint. Visually stunning and compelling, and I thought the actors chosen to play the characters was spot on.
Also... I don't think you're a grump. Another problem with movies in the theater is that they are so expensive!

I also forgot to mention, when I was at Star Trek I saw the trailer for G.I. Joe... and until the title came up I had no idea what movie it could possibly be for. When it said G.I. Joe I thought wtf? So I don't know if that sets it up to succeed or not.

I love seeing movies in the theatre.  It's just a shame that crappy people there with you can really easily make the experience not as fun.  We often have movietalkers around us, people firing up the screens on their phones/Blackberries during the movie, there are entirely too many people who line up for popcorn and candy and don't start discussing what they want until they get to the counter (directly in front of me, of course), and last time we went, a guy was tearing a strip off Jackie in the parking lot for - of all things - his having to wait to continue driving while she reversed into a parking space.  Dude had issues.

SHATTON ===>  1) So I guess you've softened a bit since your hardline 'I'm not seeing any more of these Transformer movies ever' stage?  2) Dunno if it works the same way in Bramptonville, but we've recently discovered in our neck of the woods that our local theatre - which has become CRAZY-packed on weekends since the recession kicked in - is nigh empty on mid-week nights, even for brand new movies.  That's become our new favourite time to go.  3) You haven't seen Watchmen yet?  Dude...

WOLFKIN ===>  I hear you about Terminator being a story unto itself, but while the sequels have been a bit hit and miss, it looks like they slam-dunked this one.  And hey, more Terminators and action that looks well done?  Sign me up.

KIGH_ALL ===>  Brick was AMAZING.  Also, the only time I can wait 2 weeks for a movie I want to see is if Jackie (my wife, incidentally) really wants to see it as well and she can't go when I'm free to.  Sometimes it ends up having to wait for such things to come out on video, which makes me sad.

CYNTHE ===>  If you're a CAA member (or know someone who is), you can get ticket passes for around $8.20.  Still not cheap, but a good deal better than the $12-13 some theatres charge these days.  Some (I think General Mills?) cereals have also recently run a movie-themed promotion: cut out the coupon for 2-for-1 tickets, and such stuff.  We made use of probably 4-6 of those before they expired.  Something to keep an eye out for when you're shopping.  Alternately, if you're stalking Shaun, or whatever, so happen to be in Brampton anyway, there's a low-rent theatre there that shows current movies for $3.  Jackie and I took our niece and nephew out there for a movie for the cost of one normal ticket.  Even with the slightly too-squishy seat cushions, not a bad deal.

I thought the EXACT same thing. That movie looks atrocious. It might be passable as some big dumb fun summer action flick if the G.I. Joe name wasn't tacked on to it, but ironically that's probably the only way the movie will make any money.

As for things I actually want to see, definitely Inglorious Basterds. I'm interested to see if Tarantino can tastefully make an ultra-violent film about Nazi-occupied France...with Mike Myers in it. Public Enemies could be really good as well. I'm predicting that will be up for a few Oscars.

I have already been to the theatre 3 times this month... That is more times in one month than I've gone in the last year or more.. Last year i only saw Clone Wars pilot and The day the earth stood still out in theatres... Its great to have stuff to see again. This week Terminator 4... Can't wait.

Oh yeah! That was another one I was interested in, thanks for reminding me Darkfiber. I watched the trailer for that one at least ten times when it came out... hahah, then I forgot all about it.

Anyone checked out the trailer for The Hangover? Looks pretty hilarious to me.

The Hangover reminds me of Very Bad Things and also another movie that I can't remember the name of.

Moon looks interesting.
